Default Apple developer conference.

AT $1600 plus everything else, I'll pass.

You wouldn't have been going anyway, even if it was free.

Computoman, you're a right winger. Why did you choose to complain about this but not the cost of the tea party convention? Besides, you wouldn't have gone even if it were free.

I have to agree with the others. Microsoft offers a metric buttload of free developer and tech training gatherings, and even at free I bet you don't go.

Actually, I have been to Ms sponsored events, but that was back when I was an Mswindows admin.. They still send me emails about downloading beta stuff and invitations to events. I have downloaded a thing or two. As for Apple I did own 5 ppc macs for a while to do private development work. PPC's are no longer made. The 5 systems were eventually were disposed of. Even though I am not an Apple fan, I do at least consider the possibility of doing development for monetary reasons. It's just business. I think If I have to sign a nda, they should pay me, not me pay them especially when I would probably help them sell more systems. . I was emailed that promo for my previous involvement in development for the Apple. .Steve needs to come off his high horse especially in light of recent events. ...

If you're interested in doing Mac development you don't have to attend the developers convention. Xcode is a free download. There is a $100 fee for getting the iPhone SDK but that's about it.

I actually did want to get in to iPhone/iPod programming, and while I think its a bit silly to charge for an SDK I don't think $100 is all that much. However, His Holiness the Pope Saint Steve the First is choking the crap out of the devices with His Mighty Hand and putting too many limitations in place, and I don't need that. Even the Microsoft court jester Steve Balmer isn't *that* controlling.

And speaking of the Two Steves, I'd say the same thing about patent infringement after HHtPSStF's latest mouth fart as I did to Balmer...put up or shut up.

Actually I put two links in the forum quite a while back for doing development indirectly for the ipod touch that could also be used for the ipad. Since the ipad is a highly web oriented device. Why not do web apps that the ipad/touch can access. Something that the two steves probably croak or cry foul over.. We actually already have quite a few apps we use and we are adding more all the time. If I can put an app on a web server, then that is one less system app install I have to do to any client computers (also less to back up on the client system). Though virtual machines and iscsi are reducing that need.
