1337?

me and my friends have started chatting in 1337 mainly cause we have nothing better to do, im getting tired of using all these special characters and stuff, is there any way to remap a mac (running the latest software as of june 22 2011) keyboard so that for example "E" will type 3 or "U" will type |_| etc (or is it ect?) also, how do you uninstall doublecommand (I deleted it and removed it from my system preferences and nothing shows up when i search but some programs still detect it)
