I'm filming a movie trailer for a movie trailer contest due at the end of March and a few of my scenes consist of my main character walking in the woods at night with a lantern in his hand. I cannot decide on which filming method to use: day for night and add lighting effects for lantern, or film at night with little post-production adjustments. Any opinions? I'm filming this today so any feedback will be appreciated.

Interested to hear what you chose to do... Personally I'd rent a really good lens with a low f-stop. Day-for-night always comes off fake IMO but actually shooting at night gives everything an ethereal glow that could be whimsical, mysterious or haunting completely depending on the tone of the film.
