It's interesting that you chose to ignore the "Laws of Nature" part of the quote. Ie science.

The declaration of independence is like the divorce document. It signals the end.

The constitution is the founding doc. And while the first amendment the only part of the constitution that mentions religion, you'll notice that it expressly details that religion can not be part of running a country. YOU as a conservative Christian are not allowed to impose upon me a liberal atheist a religion. I am not denying you your religion. I am upholding my right to not have laws created based upon yours.

The knowing vs thinking thing. Glad you picked up on that.
Knowing is a basis in facts. Opinion may or may not have a factual base.
The conservative right were dismayed by the number of students entering college with religious beliefs who graduated without them. Think about it. They got educated. They no longer accepted what hey were told as truth. The started watching comedy central instead of fox news.

I'm not going to argue, because this is the internet and I'd rather smash a rusty nail through my dick than argue politics on the internet, but I did actually laugh out loud when he suggested I have a fragile ego.

Re: The Newsroom; I finally saw the first episode. The WPM on this show is so high, I was exhausted by the end of the hour. I'm going to continue to watch though.

Sorkin enjoys a plethora of mind altering drugs. I think there's something in that for all of us, don't you ?

The second episode wasn't nearly as good as the first.

Every scene with "Jim and Pam", which was like 1/3 of the episode, is like driving a railroad spike through my head.

And yes this show takes place in the past. But it's just 2 years in the past. Are we really supposed to believe that people are confused by how email works in 2010?!?

I agree on all points, although I see "Jim & Pam" more as xeroxed copies of "Jeremy & Natalie" from Sports Night. In any case, the second episode moved into annoying territory for me. I'll keep watching for now, but I lost a fair amount of enthusiasm for the show after this episode.

I had to stop the 3rd episode because I couldn't take it anymore. The Will + producer lady, and Jim + Pam, stuff is so fucking annoying. All of it.

I stopped the episode with about 10 minutes left, during a scene where Jim and Dev Patel are talking, and Dev says "There she is", and the camera cuts to Pam sitting in a stairwell moping for the 4th time this episode. I literally said "That's it, I'm done!" and stopped.

I'll give the 4th episode about 10 minutes to do something that impresses me, otherwise I'm done with the show.

Also, just to nitpick: The scenes with a hot girl waiting for Will every day took place in May. Then the show jumps forward to Election night, in November, at which point Pam works up the courage to confront Will about hurting Producer Lady's feelings by doing it. That shit happened 6 months ago! Or has it been going on every day for six months?!? If you're gonna put timestamps on scenes, have the shit make sense.

Maybe I'm weird...but I'd love to see shows that don't have a love story in them.

3 was better than 2, but neither live up to the pilot/promise for me yet.

The problem I'm seeing is that this is all just so formulaic. It's the Sorkin formula. I've seen it all before with Sports Night, West Wing, and Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip. And at least so far, I've seen it all done better on Sports Night and West Wing. I think this show in particular would be better without the romantic storylines.

I loved Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip *sigh*. Fucking 30 Rock killed it, imho (both shows came out at the same time if I remember correctly). I still hate 30 Rock.

I've never watched the other Sorkin shows, but I really liked this pilot. I just haven't had time to watch the other episodes yet. Ya'll got me worried. lol
