Concurrent headphone and speaker audio output

I'm looking for a sound bar that supports headphone output, and found that:
1) Few sound bars have headphone jack.
2) Of those that do, connecting the headphones kills the speaker output.

My wife and I have very different hearing ability. (I've spent more time enjoying engine exhaust notes than she has) Despite this incompatability we remain married, and like to watch TV together. This results in either:
A) Painfully loud audio level for my wife.
B) My inability to hear dialog.

I'm willing and able to hack a sound bar, voiding the warranty, in order to achieve concurrent headphone and speaker audio. I need advice on selecting a sound bar and obtaining circuit diagrams.
