After several revisions I have my script they way I want. The problem is its only about 54 pages in length.
However I've noticed that when doing the breakdown pages and storyboards I'm already 200+ pages in and I'm not past 15 pages of script. Each storyboard page(8 1/2 x 11) has anywhere from 3 to 5 drawings with notes attached. I've read 1 page equals 1 minute to 1 page equals 30 seconds. What is the most accurate way to determine length of your film? |

To get a rough idea try reading through the story board, acting out the scenes in your head while running a stop watch. Making sure to think about how long it will take to move from point to point, how long action and what not will take.
Hope that helps |

Yeah - there's way to much variability in what you put on a page and what someone else puts on a page to trust any minutes/page guideline. Act it out, be honest about transition times and such, etc..
If you can, I think it's a good idea to film yourself acting it out too - a lot of people will either tend to rush through or artificially slow-down dialog ... it's useful to see if you've done that in your own read-through so you can get a more accurate time estimate. |
