(but you never know)
If I remember correctly the problem was they were running their own tracker, which got attacked by MediaDefender. They could put the torrent on a public tracker and just seed it to solve that problem.

Using bittorrent instead of having everyone download every episode from the rev3 servers would be a win-win. Less of a hassle and much faster downloads for us and less bandwidth wasted for them.

I know from personal experience that downloading from revision3 directly is best. They get the numbers for the sponsors that way. I do wonder how much roughly 150 Gigabytes of bandwidth costs them though...

Probably way less than they get for one episode of the whole "let's thank 78 different sponsors that are the same as last week!"

Seriously though, if I actually have a cap on bandwidth, I just blew through 170gb of it downloading diggnation :P

Can anyone report back to how large the complete downloads are? I want to make sure I have enough space on my hard drive. How much space is it going to take up once downloaded?

Thanks Mikwit!

I had a todo for this on my list since March. I finally got around to queuing them up. It took about 2 days of downloading chunks of them, so as not to kill my bandwidth for the rest of the house.

In total, there were 341 episodes that came to a total of 172 gigs.

Now its time to search my back up drives and purge all of the Diggnation folders I have created over the years.

EDIT: Removed the comment about the missing episodes. DUH! I was deleting my old podcast backups, and I remembered...THEY WENT RIGHT TO 420! I can't believe I forgot!
