I wonder if this might change the minds of conservatives.

Quote:
Aaron Sorkin is seeking some conservative insight for the second season of HBO’s The Newsroom.
The acclaimed writer is hiring media consultants of all political stripes to help advise the show’s writing process, The Newsroom creator told reporters at the Television Critics Association’s semi-annual press tour in Beverly Hills on Wednesday. The consultants will be from TV, print, and online media disciplines and represent “every part of the ideological spectrum.” Sorkin said the hires will lend some real-world newsroom experience and give the show “a political perspective that I don’t have.”
“I have some really bright interesting conservative minds who have worked in conservative politics that will help me bolster some conservative arguments at those moments that we’re talking about politics,” Sorkin said after the show’s panel. “I don’t know yet exactly the timeline of when season 2 takes place, but I would be extremely surprised if it didn’t include the election and the conventions. So there’s going to be those kind of [political] arguments coming up.”
Sorkin was then asked if he felt the first season of The Newsroom was weaker because of a lack of conservative consultants.

At some point they will have to address the Daily Show right? I mean if there's one force for change that exists out there for prime time news its the Daily Show.

No talking head would ever criticize his own party's agenda as much as Will does on this show.

You could argue that he's a "typical idealistic Sorkin character", but that just makes him seem unrealistic.
I was noticing this as well... I mean, I can see the Tea Party angle, but everything else seems to be mainly pointed right as well.

Wesley's snippet has me intrigued about future seasons, though.

I like the Sam Waterson and Olivia Munn characters... but Maggie needs to shut up and her boyfriend needs to go back to the 10pm show he was supposed to be doing.

Traveling in Europe for three weeks, I finally had balanced news coverage. I wonder how long the rest of the world have been referring to Syria as what it is - a civil war? I am not sure that even the US is still willing to elevate it to that status.

Why do I bring it up? US media (esp as highlighted by Sorkin) is America first.

It was refreshing to see even CNN international, with a focus on WORLD events. The US might create the circumstances that effect much of the world, but the impact is further reaching than most in the US realize - because all they see is US media reports. I think The Newsroom is portraying that inward looking mentality quite well, regardless of which side of the political agenda you sit on.
