Video Card Dead?!?

I was watching a movie on my pc and all of a sudden it shut off and the only way to start it back up is to pull the power cable off of the video card. My question is it the video card that is dead or would that be a short in the psu?

Could be either, is the power supply rated for the max load of your system? How old is the system and is this the first you noticed anything unusual?

This is going to sound really stupid, but you might take a pencil eraser and clean the the card edge that plugs into the slot. Be sure to wipe the edge clean of any debris.
