I'm more excited for 5 than I was for 4, because of the location (Russia) and because it looks like real terrorists rather than DH4 cyberterrorist bullshit.
But I feel like it's making the same mistakes as 4, having McLane's kid and an annoying sidekick. I get that 1 and 2 both had "sidekicks", but they were more in ancillary roles. Then 3 had great success with putting Samuel L Jackson in a true sidekick role, and I think when they made 4 and 5 they looked to that success and said, "Hey, let's do that again". But Justin Long is no Samuel L. Jackson, and I doubt the kid in this one is either. This time it looks like they're making the double mistake of making his kid the sidekick. |
