Default Need help with my XBOX 360 purchase...

Hello fellow Rader's,

Jen (my significant other) and I have decided to go get an Xbox360 this weekend. Think I am going with the Elite version. However I need some input from those that have a 360 already:

We can only affourd 2 new games witht he system after getting a second controller and possibly a second Xbox live account.

1) Halo 3 or Bioshock? I have not played Halo 2 yet....

2) For a second game I want to get a good one she can enjoy (though she may like Halo 3, she is a gamer at heart but been out of it for a while) What's a good game that we can both enjoy?

3) Can we set up 2 Xbox live accounts on 1 machine so she can have her own and I can have my own?

Thanks in advance folks...

How important is playing online against people? Bioshock has no multiplayer but Halo 3 does. You might get more replay out of Halo 3 b/c of the 4-person co-op factor.

Viva Pinata was pretty fun for me, but I don't really know your girls gaming tastes.

Yes, you each can have your own profile and earn your own points and achievements.

Yeah replay and multiplayer is important but I have heard so much about the single player experience it's got me thinking about it....

Jen used to be into platformers quite a bit, she likes tinkering with my Star Wars Galaxy or WOW accounts but it scared off my the learning curve.

With separate accounts I presume I will still have to pay for each individually?

Dude, if you arn't sure about the XBOX live gold membership. Skip it. Honestly, I thought I'd be playing online like a maniac, but I haven't been. My XBL gold is a complete waste. Later, if you wanna try online, you can upgrade.

So the Silver the box comes with is good enough for downloading demo's and whatnot correct?

I appreciate the input folks.

Don't mean to jump in on your question, but I was also thinking about purchasing a 360 soon. My question is, how viable is it to use a keyboard and mouse for Halo 3 or other shooters (or any game for that matter)? I used to do all of my gaming on my PC (but have since switched to a mac...) and don't find using a controller for FPS's that satisfying. Any input would be appreciated.

What FPS have you played? That could effect your opinion of the experience mightily. I'm sort of a hard-core KB/mouse guy myself. I used to really dominate the FPS on my PC. Now, I get my ass handed to me like a rank noob with the controller. There is defiantly a learning curve. Many game have tweaks like sticky targeting to help new console gamers with the transition. However, these features are usually disabled on line.

You only need to pay for one Live Gold account, both your profiles can use it. You just can't do both at the same time, obviously, you only have one 360 . So enjoy having your own separate profiles and paying for just one Live account.

I've been paying for gold since I got it as well and have barely gone online to play all that much.... but I can tell you, CoD4 is going to change that for me completely. I'm hardcore addicted to the beta. Plus I want to play Halo 3 through w/ my friends.

Don't eat McDonalds twice a month and you have the $8 it costs for a gold account

For games to buy, I would go with Halo 3 (only if you are getting XBL Gold b/c everyone and their mother is playing it) but for the single player experience Bioshock owns. Also Gears of War, Rainbow Six Vegas, and Oblivion, with many more games coming out this fall .
