Default Guitar Hero 3, Rock Band or both?

The reviews are out and so are the games so what's it gonna be? The one we know and love? The new kid on the block with 2 new peripheral friends? or for die hards, big spenders and people with too much time on their hands, both? also for those already blessed with them (both delayed in Europe grrr) tell us what you think...

I decided to go with both so I complete the band instruments with two guitars (and I'm bad as resisting these games)

If you're only going with one, I'd say go with Rock Band. Granted, it's $80 more, but you're basically getting Drum Hero and Karaoke Hero with it, plus cheaper DLC, plus a great party game with up to four players instead of two.

The only thing I don't like about RB is the guitar. GH's guitar is hands down the better of the two.

Drums are pretty fun, but not as satisfying as the guitar, though I probably just need to amp up the difficulty. Green Grass and High Tides is kicking my ass though... I get to 95% and it just comes crashing down.

Singing is pretty simple. You can pretty much hum through a song as long as you have the right pitch.

Song selection-wise, despite the absence of Muse and a few other bands, I like RB's better. Plus, as of right now, their DLC choices are much better.

interesting I thought the RB guitar looked way more pro and comfortable. I got GH3 only cuz I'm away on assignment and dont really have anyone to play with for RB and GH3 has Muse and the Foos pack and I'm a major Foos fan, athough since I'm a die hard of these games I'll probably be getting RB anyway lol

I have to vote Rock Band. Now, although Guitar hero seems a little easier to follow (many hours of playing have allowed me to adapt to the interface design) I really feel that Rock Band is just that much more fun.

Here is why.

Although I believe that both games are fun in a social environment, Re: drunken parties, Rock Band is more accessible. Many people find the guitar concept difficult (though god knows why, I thought it was easy) but the addition of vocals to Rock Band make it like a kareokee experience, and that opens the door to more people.

We had a little pre-thanksgiving party at my house on Wed. evening, and people didn't leave until well past 1:30am because it was one long jam session. The non-video game players jumped right in with no problems. The whole team work aspect combined with a fantastic selection of songs made things even better.

Now, don't get me wrong, I love guitar hero, but the new champ in my house is Rock Band.

Note: I bought the "kit" with the new guitar and drums. Once you play around with the new guitar, you are not going to want to go back to the old one. The "strum" is so much easier and more responsive on the new style. Fear not though! On the 360 the old guitars work, so you can play at least 3 of the 4 instruments in rock band (guitar, bass and mic) with your original guitar hero controllers and the standard 360 mic without having to track down one of the kits.
