Is anyone able to stream the large h.264 and HD h.264 diggnation (and TRS for that matter) through your xbox 360?
I thought the spring update allowed this but they won't show up on my xbox 360. I'm using the windows media player 11 option to stream. Thank you |

I think it depends what sharing software you are using. I think the formats covered in the last media update aren't supported by all the PC-end choices. I was using Windows Media Connect and MS made a bold choice to stop supporting it in order to push their Zune platform. The WMP and Zune media sharing just don't seem to work for me. There's a software interaction and the XBOX 360 tech support people are about as useful as frozen poo on a stick.
I use a 2GB thumb drive to play these files and it works splendidly.

eminemdrdre00,
Do you recall what codec you installed? |

When the XBOX 360 first tries to open H264 file, it will contact XBL for a media update. I don't think that it works with streamed media.

The files won't even show up to play though. Hmm, there must be a way to do this somehow. especially since they say h.264 is supported.

Try saving an H264 into a CD, DVD or a USB thumbdrive. This is how I got the H264 codec to download. You also need the latest XBOX 360 dashboard update.

WMP11 don't allow you stream h.264, but the zune software will. The only problem is that I can't get the 360 to see the file if the extension is .mov, but if I change it .m4v then it works just fine. The odd thing is though, that if i put the file on a thumbdrive it will work with the .mov extension. My guess is that microsoft doesn't like to play nice with apple file formats.

I've been using Connect360 on OS X to stream the HD H.264 releases for a while now. Works great!

So lame. Freakin Micorsoft. I’m definitely able to play them off my thumb drive or even stream them from my PC using Orb but didn’t want to always transfer them to my thumb drive (not that it’s hard, just don’t want to do it) and don’t want to have to use a third party app. I have a zune and would use the zune software but divx/xvid files won’t show up through that.
Oh well. It was almost perfect since the fall dash update too. |
