Social networking? Unethical - not something you really want to associate with at a corporate level. War driving? This is 2008, not 2005 ... So what could you do? Things that don't directly fit systm. Consider it as systm++ for more advanced hacks (hardware and software). Turn it into a white hat (ethical hacking) show ... penn testing, vta testing, WEP/WPA cracking, password retrieval, bluetooth snarfing, etc. All perfectly legal (with consent), but with a hint of "bad boy" that would appeal.

I would say the show could be monthly or even every 3 months as a test. The show does not have to have extreme hacking. But like the cool dark tips and cool be sketchy type of content. But the show could have some humor or something, that would be cool. It would be nice to have a show build on real tech stuff like thebroken was. The show could even have cool and interesting security tips and OS tweaks. Anything should be possible on thebroken, imho. But different guests could be used on all the shows. You could even have fans submit videos of hacks or things of that nature to blend in the video. Just make the show with loose guides, except keep it borderline legal or better. Not all hacking is illegal.

I think thebroken still has a place. And as for funding, fund by member for members. Im not a member right now, but would sign up asap if thebroken became a member only show. I feel like al lot people would do the same. I mean look at this, its only had 4 shows and yet on digg under pod-cast its like #4 and on this forum it gets alot of activity for a dead show IMO.

The above recomendations are all good. You don't have to make shows that will land you in jail but making show that are informative like ep1 and 3 that show you how to protect your WAPs. Why not test out a variety of different shows and see which types the viewers like more? Something is better than nothing aftereall.

quit worrying about ethics. we already have shows with beer drinking and cussing..
this is the internet.. Revision3 needs to be the television network that doesn't look back. knock down walls and keep kicking ass, who gives a fuck. more people will watch if you crank out the good shit, and kick it up a notch or five. if the advertisers bitch and complain about it, show them how high the ratings went up - because they WILL GO UP. think about it... why does revision3 exist?.. due to the original success of thebroken and systm. if thebroken worked, and it is clear that it did.. why not run with that shit? if you are really worried about people bitching about breaking laws or whatever, there are loopholes for that. it isn't illegal to teach people how to hack their own wireless networks... if i am curious about my wireless network and i think my neighbors might be hacking it.. create a show that teaches us how they might be doing it, and introduce us to tools and techniques that hackers might be using against us.. you don't have to go through the neighborhoods of california hacking into wifi hotspots, just demonstrate it on one of the show host's networks.. how can it be against the law for them to hack their own wifi in a demonstration for the show? knowledge about the technology and techniques that hackers and criminals can use to compromise our systems is better than being ignorant to it.. how else can we protect ourselves? I think any idea you guys shoot down and say is illegal or too edgy, I believe I can show you without a doubt, a way that it isn't. If someone is taking advantage or compromising me or anything of mine (whether that be picking a lock, breaking into my house, car, computer, etc) I want to know how they are doing it so I can better protect myself. If I don't know how they are doing it, how else am I going to defend against their attack?

I agree, slap a disclaimer on the start of the show and you cannot be stopped. Everything they do could be done on their own networks/sites/hardware. Ratings will be huge because every wanna-be hacker will be watching most of whom will never do anthing even remotly illegal.

1. Play it safe and go white hat while still presenting interesting hack/mod material. With rev 3's current viewer base this would be recieved warmly but is another systm/tekzilla going to help the company any? No. OR 2. Bring thebroken back and make it the most hardcore hacker show thats ever been on the internets. Even more black hat than the copy of 2600 you bought at Barnes&Noble with cash, because you'd rather not leave a paper trail. Rev 3 is already shaping the future of media, why would you want to continue to follow old politically correct formulas? Bring it back and do it right! |

that was stupid. no need for personal attacks. he asked us for our opinion - what we thought could be done with the show. He never once in his post mentioned anything about not knowing what to do with it himself. You made an idiot of yourself, crumbles.

Gotta remember, they're looking to make money, not ruin themselves as a company. Granted, we may not want them to change what the Broken is, but sometimes there are things we can't control. As long as Rev3 doesn't go the way of G4, I'm ok with it.
