Question $25 Mini-ITX

From Episode 35: http://revision3.com/systm/evdo/
Of course, Systm is about getting your DIY on, so we rustled thru the parts bin in Patrick's garage and found an 800MHz Mini-ITX machine that runs on 12V. (That means no annoying 12V from the car to 120V via an inverter... the $25 we paid for it is just a sweet bonus.)

The link in the show notes is to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mini_itx

After googling around for a while I couldnt find any Mini-ITX boards near $25. This is a great buy and means with the board, ram, HardDrive, you could have a fully opporable tiny pc for less the $100.

True, this would be a slow machine, but for many hobbies and other DIY projects this would be great! So anyone have any ideas where this $25 Mini-ITX MotherBoard Patrick had came from? What store?

EDIT: I did find a $70 solution, but its not $25 http://www.logicsupply.com/products/boxd201gly

Sounds like they already had one. I am guessing 25 dollars is what he paid for it a while back or something. I am probably wrong but I couldn't find 25 dollar one any where either.

Yeah, but if he paid $25 a while back then we should be able to find the newer modle for the same price or cheaper.

Patrick needs to get on here and answer this question!

Pat mentioned he got it at Defcon so my guess it was a vendor selling stuff for cheap.

ok, so we need to figure out who that reseller was. In many cases an oem package would be fine

I have seen mini its at fry's for 70 bucks. Most motherboards are not that big. You could as well take an old celeron board and do the same thing. Somebody is bound to have a spareon lying around. You can mail order the 12v dc to dc power supplies that plug right in. Making a case is easy or just mount the motherboard under the seat.

I think I found the product website: http://www.maxspeed.com.au/products/maxterm.htm. I think ebay is the best way to get one for $25.
