Paypal asks for Bank info so they can deposit the money into it. It is perfectly safe.

I have a personal account and a business account from paypal. No major problems with either. I own an industrial service company and most payments are made to us by company check, but we have the odd few customers the like to pay by credit card. Instead of getting a credit card machine and such we opened a paypal account so we could use their virtual terminal service. It works without perfect for us. Not only that we can get debit cards to draw on that account for gas and misc. parts needed in the field. I am not sure with all banks business accounts but a the bank where we have our primary account the do not issue debit cards on business account so the paypal card worked perfect again. When you people say you have money in your accounts and they freeze it, how much are they freezing? We don't keep a high balance in paypal only between 15k-20k but I don't want to lose it by any means. Do I need to be concerned?

Did they lock the account before or after you wouldn't provide them with a SSN? I don't blame you for not giving out such information.

A blog I write for is sending me money, I was so happy to make some money from blogging (I want a Wii damnit) but I had to make a Paypal account to get it. Stupid thing won't let me accept money in the account. I don't even want to set it up with a credit card - what is there to lost by letting me accept money and spend it when I don't want to attatch any credit card or move the money out into cash. I. Hate. Payal.

What are other Paypal-like options? Google Checkout?

I really had no intention of ever using Paypal until I decided to buy an iPod off Ebay. There's a stunning amount of "Paypal only" sellers.

Here's to hoping they answer my god damn email.

In your case, they'd be losing a TON of money in fees by closing your account. But if they decide to close it, you're screwed. If your bank for business won't give you a card connected to your account, you may need to look at other banks.
