If you are having problems installing the Revision3 player over an existing Miro installation, uninstall everything, then delete the whole Participatory Culture Foundation folder from %appdata%\Roaming (C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming). Then install the Revision3 player and it should work correctly.
However, updating Miro to its latest version does not work properly, therefore I would advise not to download the Player. It is quite unstable compared to the original Miro skin anyway.

I am a linux user and I am used to being left out. No problem I have had Miro running on my Linux Mint PC for years. Tekzilla & HD Nation and now Geekbeat & Tom's Top 5 are there whenever I am ready to watch them. Not sure why a custom app is needed. Don't know why the Linux/OSX/Windows camps can't just get over it and realize people are different and prefer different OSes. The whole "my OS is better than your OS" just seems kind of silly.

Because we all need something to talk about. I do share your views though.

As for the app, I see no need for a custom one either. This thread is 2 years old though, doubt the app is even supported anymore.

Oh yeah, another damn dedicated player. Why not keep it in an industry standard format and let US chose are own player. I happen to like watching the h.264 files in Nero. Let's not forget you stand a chance of alienating many of your viewers who like downloading in a compatible format for their android-based tablets to watch @ a later time. Besides, to date VLC is by far the most awesome free and open source player supporting formats that I've never heard of. Next step, you'll start charging for a premium content service like Hulu or Comcast.

Look when the thread was created.

A player is just a feed aggregator - the format of the files remains the same.
