popSiren IRC

Hey guys!

As per a thread I mentioned previously, I have started a popSiren IRC chatroom on the Zone-9 IRC network. I'll be writing some functions into the channel bot that will allow you to grab download links for past episodes, links to sites that Sarah has mentioned on the show and other fun stuff.

The server address is irc.zone-9.net and the room name is #popsiren.

For those of you who are IRC newbies, you can find a list of common IRC commands here: http://www.ircbeginner.com/ircinfo/ircc-commands.html

As well, you can use the webchat available on the Zone-9 Website, or connect via an IRC client. Below are a list of IRC clients that users on our network prefer, for all three major Operating Systems.

Windows/Linux:

XChat: http://silverex.org
mIRC: http://mirc.com (not available natively on Linux, but works perfectly under WINE.)
Trillian: http://ceruleanstudios.com (not available on Linux)
Pidgin: http://pidgin.im

Mac:

Colloquy: http://colloquy[dot]info

XChat Aqua: http://sourceforge.net/projects/xchataqua/

Also, if you are a Firefox user, there is an extension for Firefox called ChatZilla that functions as an IRC client. You can download it from here: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/16

It should also be mentioned that there are also numerous web-based IRC clients out there, most of our users who use web-based clients seem to prefer Mibbit and IRC@Work.
