Ladies and Gents, it's that time of the year again. The NHL playoffs are back, which means one thing. PLAYOFF BEARDS!!!!! Those of you who aren't familiar with the playoff beard should go check out wikipedia for all the info. But long story short, players don't shave as a sign of team unity and NHLers desposition to being superstitious. Anyways as a result they grow epic beards. Here are my personal favorites:
Mike Commodore ![]() Matthew Schneider ![]() As of today, I'm growing my playoff beard in support of my Caps. Too bad I'm Asian and I've seen women with more facial hair than me (its the thought that counts). Anyways the questions I have for you guys are; Who has the best playoff beard? Can you grow an epic playoff beard? If yes, can you show us an example. Also if your a hockey fan, who do you have winning it all? |

I've had my playoff beard going for the last month to support the Caps' run for the post-season. Fortunately I have a few teams to root for so hopefully I can keep this going another several weeks.
I loved Commodore's beard the year they won, it was intense. Niedermayer (Scott) usually has a big busy graying beard, especially last year. Is there some sort of website that looks out for playoff beards? Go Habs, Stars, Caps, & Avs! Last edited by tsmith15 : 04-08-2008 at 01:37 AM. |

Also I forgot to metion, I think the TRS guys should have a playoff beard growing competition/bet. It'd probably make a good Dan becomes a man segment, cause what more manlier than facial hair and sports? Personally I think Jeff could grow a beard that would put Dan and Alex's to shame based on the 5 o'clock shadow he's always rocking. Too bad Steve's head nothing more than a ball of flame, or he could get in on the competition too.

I think it's pretty rad too.
However I'm going the other way with it. I'm considering shaving my head to show solidarity for a friend's brother who was just diagnosed with lymphoma. Growing a beard, shaving your head, is a sign of solidarity and I think it's pretty cool when it's done for a common cause. |

I've been growing a stache for the past month or so, but I'll stave off of shaving to support my Penguins. I really hope the Caps and Red Wings go far as well.

Go Bruins, or anyone but the damn cheapa$$ Flyers..... can we expect another career threatening cheapshot during the playoffs?
Oh, and as a B's fan, I cannot leave without sticking my middle finger up to the Habs - I hate you with passion. ![]() |

I've maintained a pretty wicked neckbeard for the past couple years now. It started out of laziness, as trimming once a week is a lot easier than shaving every day. Now I keep it because no matter how ridiculous neck beards look, it does make me look my actual age rather than looking like a middle schooler.

Why don't we all post pics of our beards at the end of the playoffs?

Sounds like a good idea. We should come up with a prize for the winner. As a side note, whats the highest resolution pictures we can post? Cause I think i need a 10 megapixel slr to capture mine.
