I want to thank the soldiers in the field today for fighting for your brothers and sisters.
I want to thank the soldiers who have served and survived. And can be home now. I want to thank the soldiers who have served and survived, but have issues and injuries. I want to thank you a LOT. I want to thank the veterans of previous wars. You protected me and my voice to disagree with the wars you faught and the orders you followed. I want to thank one of the soldiers I met on rev3, Tadpole. You went through hell, you witnessed hell, you survived and suffered, and chose to return. Just wish you would return to rev3. if just to say hi. I want to thank the other soldier on these threads. I agree and disagree with you, but respect you greatly. I want to thank the dead. I want to thank you for the most amazing, sad, undeniable sacrifice that anyone can make, this war, the last war, the war before... all the way back to Valley Forge. But most of all, I wanna thank my Dad. You never saw combat, but you volunteered, and served and were ready and willing during those cold war days. I Love you dad. I miss you more than I can say.

Great post.
Thank you for having the intelligence to appreciate the difference between policy of elected individuals and the duties that a soldier assumes when they take the oath. My father saw combat in Korea. He survived that and another 50+ years. |

My ex's dad was a combat photographer in the Korean war, he never speaks of it or showed us fotos. I think I would puke if I saw them. But he had to aim his camera at the carnage... for America... that's what they paid him for... arghh. don't know where I am going with this... just. all wars suck for everyone... I guess.

I want to throw in a thanks to everyone rabid mentioned. Including his dad for being willing to fight for me and everyone I love, and my sister who is currently in Iraq.

My grandfather served in the war. He died before I ever met him, but apparently it was not something he ever talked about. As a Newfoundlander, the Canadian army didn't acknowledge him, but the English did.
I'd just like to throw out a thanks to any soldier who has ever been overlooked or ill-wished for things beyond their control (ie: Whether their province is on good terms with the country, or their president is an idiot or not).
