Production questions.

So, I always thought Scam School was shot weekly for some reason. actually, fact was I never thought about it at all. Just assumed brian and crew just made a new show every week like Diggnation and TRS, etc. But I guess SS aint "topical" so could be shot anywhere, any time.


But Brian is shooting a new "season" starting today. Got some questions..

Do you shoot them all in one day?

All at the same bar with the same crowd?

after winning ten beers, can you still film? (Now THERE's some outtakes i wanna see after the credits, brian too buzzed to pull off a scam, haha.)

Oh, and what beer or drink do you "win"?

Do you fly to SF to film them, or do you shoot at home turf?

Does the poor camera/sound man, (in this case, I guess hippy glen) have to stay sober?

Or do you just light his bong between shots in more and more spectacular ways?

I'm pretty sure they don't shoot them all in one day because I remember tweets from shwood and Martin saying they were about to go film more eps of SS a month or so ago. I think it's probably over the span of a few nights and at different bars. If you watch the eps, it's fairly obvious that they're in different bars. Some of the eps are from the same night, but not all of them.

Yeah, now I have a Faux Producer's cap on thinking "instead of having Brian shoot once a week, let's set him up with a film crew for one weekend and he's tasked with filming 12 episodes that weekend. So 4 bars a night over 3 nights (include Thursday) definitely possible. muhahahahaha and Cheaper!!!"

Wow! That's pretty much right on the money.

My erratic tour schedule makes it hard to be consistent on the shooting schedules, so whenever we find an opening, we shoot a block of episodes. Often it's a wed/thurs/fri or thurs/fri/sat, and we try to get 4 episodes done per night (though when a trick bombs or an audience member is a dud, we sometimes have to adjust that.

The shoot in Houston was for a group of special episodes that take place (gasp!) ... not in a bar! I promise that if we were shooting in a public place, I'd be tweeting out the location to everyone.

LOL... speaking of which, the night we shot this current episode (ep 19, the whiskey and water), we also shot "the race." That meant I had 2 pints of guinness, the winner beer from "whiskey and water," and the beer from "the mirror." plus, I ended up doing the shot of whiskey, so as not to be wasteful. As a result, in the wrapup of ep 19, you can clearly hear that I'm having just a little bit of trouble forming my words...
