1080p projectors still cost mounds of cash: in the long awaited conclusion of our Home Theater Month, David and Patrick build one up from a Lumenlab DIY Projector Kit.

Great great episode, very much enjoyed watching someone else tackle the basic LumenLab projector, when I made my one (way way back when you had to pay for the plans
) I had to go on just pictures & ideas from the LL forums, the learning curve was pretty steep for me as I wasn't used to building such things and it didn't help I didn't spend long enough on it.However now I've gotten more experience with building things the right way what with the work I've been doing the last couple of years, I think I'll have to have a go at re-building/re-working my LL PJ to resolve the heat & noise (fans) and get the final image in total focus. After all, the pieces all still work (bulb/screen etc.) and it's been gathering dust for too long. Plus it'll give me a chance to add in the RF remote control (screen on/off, bulb on/off & focus) I wanted to add in. But after I've finished building my 130watt solar panel (the 72 cells arrive tomorrow)So thanks guys for this episode! BTW, how well does the polycarbonate protect the fresnels+LCD from the heat of the bulb? when I made mine I got a sheet of tempered glass cut to size for the job and the LCD still gets pretty hot even with two 12cm fans sucking air past between the LCD & tempered glass.

Wow that had a whole lot of how to build a box info and not much about projectors. There is alot more to bulbs and even reflectors that can make a nice bright projector. Making a how to about projectors is hard because of all the variables so what would be better is a detailed explanation of how all the parts work. I hope you guys revisit this with better info with how it all works. I know there is alot of people that have no idea how most of the stuff works and what you can do to get better results.

OK, I think Rev3 needs to get some steadycam mounts!
If you do not have a mill..... Take a router bit and put it in a drill press. I used that a lot while working in a cabinet shop. Make sure you have a large table and hang on tight. Always take off a little at a time.
