Laptop: repainting and modifications

I recently repainted my laptop cause it got scuffed up pretty bad. I remember watching the show on spray painting laptops and reviewed it. The laptop turned out pretty well, its a dell Inspiron e1505 and i gave it a navy blue color to it.

Now on to my questions.

The Dell logo was also scuffed up and in my attempts at prying it off the case I dented the aluminum logo so i wont be using that anymore. I want to put a new custom logo on there and a thought hit me. What if i made it translucent like the Macs, and HP have on their laptops where light shines through. Do i have to install LEDs or can i use the backlight off the monitor? Are there issues with using the backlight? Will it compromise or create problems with the brightness of the screen if i use the backlight (if it was possible). Hope those out there can help me out here.
