Default What's next & what did you think? Graphic Novels & Trades - 2008

I thought that posting what you were reading next in one thread, then reviewing it in another, was kind of unnecessary. Perhaps this could serve as both a "Next" and a "Review" thread? I don't know, I guess that's up to you folks.

Just finished Reading the latest volumes of both DMZ and Ex Machina and I can safely say that DMZ has become my favorite series. The title used to belong to Ex Machina, but this volume was far too weak to hold onto it.

I loved Transmet and would strongly urge you to continue, but I won't. If you didn't like that volume, you probably won't like the rest of the story. Oh well.

As for Sandman, I am going to urge you to continue. The artist changes on every trade, often more than once. At times you will love the art, at times you will absolutely hate it, but the story always makes it worth while.

The most recent thing I read was the first two Jonah Hex trades. And honestly if you have any love for the Western genre at all, I can't highly enough recommend this series. It's got a great, tough, anti-hero sort of lead. Fantastic, yet sparing dialogue. It's just great.

Before that it was a couple of trades of Preacher (4 & 5 I think). I'm really disappointed in myself for not giving Preacher a shot earlier. I read the first trade years ago, and for whatever reason just didn't like it. I tried it again a couple of months ago, and just loved it. The 4th trade in particular was the essence of what would make for a badass Western character (annoying that a Brit should understand our quintessential American genre so well).

On deck is the Brubaker Captain America Omnibus.

Yet another good review! Nice. I finally picked up the first two trades, and they're next on my to-read list.

Finished: The Exterminators, Vol. 1. Just didn't care for it. I just didn't find the story or characters to be very interesting.

On deck: Phonogram

Not saying you should continue, but I was just OK with it after volume 1. I didn't rush out and get volume 2. But when I did, I really started to get it about halfway through volume 2. And now I've just finished Volume 3, and it's really starting to click.
