Okay fanboys (and fanchicks)!
I think of buying a XBOX 360 sometime after Christmas. Instead of doing proper research. I've decided to start an online debate. All you master-debaters out there need to convince me one way or another. Things that matter to me? 1. How's the HD connectivity? 2. Does it play a full range of classic XBOX games? 3. Does the power supply still explode? 4. Would it be better to wait until the price drops? If so, how much? 5. What XBOX 360 game can I NOT do without?

1) People don't buy consoles for HD. If you need to, reconsider.
2) Pretty much. I can't play Farcry Instincts still, though. 3) Are you stupid? 4) Perhaps, but I think that the current price is very worth it. 5) Don't ask me, I only play origioal Xbox games on it so far. $60 is too much for a game still.

I won't directly answer all your questions, because I don't have a 360, but all my friends do, so I'm always playing.
I believe Microsoft announced awhile ago, prior to Holiday season, that the price wouldn't be dropping anytime in the near future. But out of all the next gen console prices, I believe the 360's to be most fair and worth it. Amazing games: Gears of War, Dead Rising, Gun. Coming soon: Guitar Hero II w/ new controller, Halo 3, Halo Wars. And then other games have considerable upgrades over the regular XBOX version, some that are subtle and others that are stunning. Basically all EA games look so much better on 360 and have more features and stuff. The Live component is flawlessly integrated, and it's nice being able to go to the dashboard in mid-game. I'm definitely an advocate of the XBOX, but at the same time, from my most non-bias view, I really believe it is currently the best next-gen console. No games for PS3 and the huge price tag. Wii seems to have some fun gameplay, but in my opinion the price is a bit steep for basically a repackaged Game Cube(from what I've seen and heard, Alex was pretty accurate on Diggnation). So to me, it's definitely worth it. I'd suggest to try getting one before the Holidays, because there's a lot of great packages right now. Best Buy has some bundles that include a game and an extra controller. I know they also had an offer of a $30 gift card when you buy a system. And some websites are doing like $30 off and free shipping. Since the 360 has been out a year already, I don't think they'll keep any offers like this after Christmas since the console has steadily been gaining popularity all year long. First of all, if you are buying one, go to best buy, they have a bundle with a free NFS most wanted.
HD works very nicely, one minor complaint is a lack of 1080p support, which brings up another question: who the **** has a 1080p compatible screen? component cables are superb, no need to purchase those expensive Monster or Psyclone bullshit ripoff. If you are getting one, consider having an extra $100 to get a rechargeable battery kit ($20) and gears of war ($60); those will be the only things you will need for at least 3-4 months. trust me. If you have any leftover cash, by no means spend it on groceries; instead, get yourself a copy of Call of duty 2 ($30). you shall be pleased. |
