Want access to your files stored at home? How about hosting a home web server? Static IPs are expensive, if you can even get one. We set up Dynamic DNS instead!

Good content, but ipv6 is coming and that will be intesting. One note, hfs only works on windows boxes without fudging. That is really great for osx users. Dyndns is already requesting users to test the new server to convert to it..

I absolutely love these new Tekzilla episodes...

Already have a static IP, could have had 8 static IPs at no extra cost but didn't need em, pointless having so many on a DSL connection which has a (slow) standard 256kbits/s upload rate.

Hmmm this is really an awsome option. Call me paranoid but arnt you opening up your home network to dyn dns? I mean yea its prob illegal for them to monitor your home network but like im not sure i like the idea of all my traffic like bank transactions en stuff "possibly" being monitored by a third party. God forbid I ever did something one day and dyn dns is asked to leak info on what ive been up to. I mean my isp is one thing. Im paying for thier service but i dont trust dyn dns. Im not paying them any money to cover my ass on anything and Im pretty sure somewhere in their terms of agreement at the drop of a hat they give your info away. I mean who wants to liable for anything? Certainetly not a company like dyn dns.

I think you're a little confused here. How would they monitor your activities when none of your packets are going though their network.

The DynDNS service just allows you to choose a name which will always point to your IP address no matter if it's static or dynamic.
ie, anyone connecting to [yourname].hobby-site.com will connect directly to your IP address.

Great ep! I was hoping that Patrick would have kept Slamdance online! It could have had a super secret blooper reel, a spoiler about next week's ep., or possibly Roger's secret recipe for Tekzilla Hot Sauce!

i'm just hoping this dyndns address was for the show - and not one roger intends to use on a regular basis...if so he just gave out his IP address to all systm viewers.

Another click on buttons show. Sigh. See
bring back systm

I'll grant that the topic was more interesting than the last couple, but still, where is the smell of flux?
