Exclamation Vista Laptop/Xbox 360 sharing problems.

Hello,
Just recently I bought a new laptop,
And I wanted to stream my music and pictures from it to my 360.
I have shared files from an older xp computer to my 360 before and never have I ran into this problem.
I go into my media sharing area on my computer and I see "Sharing settings" and below that a faded out box that says share my media. I know from past experince that it should basically be pretty simple, just tick the box and follow the steps afterwards. But it wont let me tick the box, and below that it says " Your network (default) is a public network. Sharing is disabled to protect your privacy. If you consider this to be a private network, change network settings.
So after that I click the little rectangle box saying "Networking" and it brings me to a whole new list of settings i can change, eg. Network discovery, File sharing, Public folder sharing, Media sharing. The last one wont let me turn it on (Media sharing) I click the box to bring a drop down menu and it says "change" but when I click change nothing happens.
If anyone can figure out this problem it will be well thanked.

Go to the Network and Sharing Center.
Identify your network. Click the Customize control next to it. Set it to Private.

Go back into the media sharing options and turn off / turn back on again if necessary. The Windows firewall may still be blocking access.
