Today Bethesda announced a new Fallout game called Fallout: New Vegas. It's coming in 2010 and is in development by Obsidian (formerly Black Isle, worked on KOTOR2 and NWN2) for PC, PS3, and 360.
Say what you want about Obsidian, but I am not going to pre-judge the game based on their past works. Killzone 1 sucked, so if Guerrilla can improve, so can any other developer. I'm just really excited that I get more Fallout so soon. |

Aren't Obsidian the ones doing Alpha Protocol? That game looks pretty sweet. Either way, I feel pretty confident in predicting this is a game we won't see for some time.

I hope that Bethesda has anotehr Elder Scrolls in their quiver. I just started playing ES4 again. That game just sucks me in.

Bethesda says 2010 for this Fallout game. I'm hoping they gave the Fallout 3 engine to them to go nuts with. That would easily make a 2010 release date feasible. And, who knows how long they've been working on it? Totally agree. I am hoping that's the reason why Obsidian is working on Fallout. And I kinda love Fallout 3's VATS, and think either that or at least 2-player online co-op would be amazing additions to TES5... I don't mind playing Oblivion alone, but a lot of times I wish I could just jump into a game with a friend and go exploring the world together... |

Well if it's really using the Fallout 3 engine, it would make more sense to me if Bethesda just got Obsidian to make an enormous expansion pack for the game instead of another fallout just like Fallout 3. Or could this possibly be what the game actually is?

Ohhh, nevermind. They are saying that this will be a pure RPG as opposed to Fallout 3 FPS/RPG hybrid model. Hmm, should be interesting. Wonder if they are going to really try to make it more like Fallout 1 & 2?

I'm probably one of the few that actually liked NWN2 more than the first
![]() KotOR 2 had great potential that was just squandered--which is, really, the story of Obsidian. Still, I get the impression from the complete and polished parts of their games that the seeds of very bold, impressive ideas around the RPG are nurtured in their designs. Once Obsidian can deliver a complete product as envisioned we are all going to be very impressed. Maybe New Vegas will be the one. |
