Default Anyone have one of the 7-inch displaylink monitors?

I was quite interested in them - figured that might be a good place to run Gadgets. The question is, what is the quality like? Comparable to a regular budget monitor?

They cost about $120. I think I'd just buy a 2nd 22" or so LCD monitor for that much money. Having dual screens and lots of screen real estate rocks. I am using 2 old style fat CRT monitors (both are 17 inch) but will be switching to LCD soon. If you don't have much desk space for 2 full size monitors, I'd build or buy a larger desk.

It's not a matter of space, not enough monitors or cost. I have no restrictions in any of them. It's a matter of cool gadgetry and just having a 'status panel' type thing as a standalone display.

Old fashioned crts are becoming albatrosses. A lady friend offered me a 19 monitor for free. I turned it down. I should of taken it for the copper wire inside to do electronics projects.......

I'm sorry, but when did a question about the display quality of a displaylink monitor

turn into chats about monitors I dumped last century?

Never mind. I'm going to buy a couple and find out.

I am curious to hear your experiences with them. They have me interested for a couple of projects later - but not needed right now.

As for dead tech ... I am in the process of moving. I had 2 magnificent 17" Sony CRT monitors, and a 19" Dell CRT. I couldn't give them away. Noone wanted them. I shed a small tear as I dumped them at the local waste collection center where they will be crushed and recycled.

They have touchscreens in those 7" panels. It'd be kinda cool to have one on your nightstand so you can control iTunes from it and use it as a alarm clock and for other gadgets like news feeds, weather, etc..

Thats pretty much my thinking as well ... esp for a Home Theatre controller.

I saw one at bestbuy or something once, the quality on the display was surprisingly good.

I was about to order, when I noticed they've got a touchscreen version now.

Lead time of a couple of weeks - I've put one on preorder.
