What is this called.
I broke this inside a very old notebook. Unfortunately, the bios wont boot to USB so I must fix the HardDrive if I want to try and install linux on it. (Yes I know I can run a live CD but I just know the cd rom will wear out after a short time of use and its hard to replace) I have a Daewoo CN530 I bought in South Korea. Here are a few images http://www.thankukorea.com/daewoo1.jpg http://www.thankukorea.com/daewoo2.jpg

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Parallel_ATA Must be an old laptop, usually on a laptop there is the smaller type of PATA connector. (44-pin) ..probably will not be so easy to find a connctor that fits. no way to know if the connection to the motherboard/controllercard is standard Maybe you can find a similar or same type of laptop model on ebay or in a local garage sale. debian with e17 or openbox might be better. I run debian with icewm on my 166 p1 with 98 meg of ram just fine. Slackware is even speedier.
