Default Any ideas how I can do this??

I need to embed something small under a piece of plastic that can be read only if the device flat on the reader.
thus if the device is perpedicular to the device reader it isnt read.

Does this make any sense?
Basically I need to know if a piece of plastic is sitting on a reader but only if its relatively flat on the reader.

Thanks for any thoughts.

...I guess it all depends on a lot of diffrent factors...

* how big is the piece of plastic .. .
* how much is it's weight. (can a scale be the solution or some pressure sensitive sensor triggering at certain weights)

* how thick is the pice of plastic... is it really thin like a film..or is it a few millimeters..
(if it has a resonable messurable height maybe some sensor can detect if the object is placed under the reader, and a second sensor confirm its laying flat (the height of the object for instance is 3 mm and the sensor detects if anything is breaking its path at 4mm .. as an example....then its not laying flat)

....maybe camera and Object recognition..

some more info .. maybe pictures of what you are trying to do would help
