I just bought a new motherboard and processor. I set it up,and while doing so loaded XP. I installed all needed drivers, via the DVD it came with. After doing so it had an orange speaker symbolizing a realtec audio manager in the taskbar, but it had no regular gray speaker and the pc had no audio.
New motherboard: Intel DG31pr New processor: Pentium E5200 NOTE!: hard drive and DVD/CD player on 1 IDE ribbon cable, hard drive master, DVD/CD player slave. |

I'd go to intel's site and grab updated drivers first.
If you look in the device manager do you see any yellow exclamation points? |

Ditto, but there seems to be a lot of people on the web with the same issues. You might email support and see what they say.

Did they make you take your PC apart and take the mobo back or mail it back? If it were not under warranty, I'd suggest just dropping $9 on a Sound Blaster Audigy SE PCI sound card, which will probably sound a lot better anyway.
