Default I may end up feeling like an idiot for asking this...

...but where did the "Edit" button go in some of my posts? I'm trying to edit this post to add more birthdays, but the button isn't there. Nothing is next to the "Quote" button, nor is there next to any of my posts before today.

Hi Aria,

There were a few things changed today. One of them being, members can now only edit their own posts for up to 12 hours after they post them. If you need that post edited, please PM me, or any of the mods with updates to it, and we'll gladly edit it for you.

Regards,

-Shane

It's done on a lot of other sites, and it's seen just as a security precaution. Say a user gets pissed off at us after a while, they could just go back and remove all their old content and posts from the site. We don't want that, especially if they had submitted some good content. Honestly, 99% of the time, posts will only need to be edited only up to a few minutes after they were posted. Twelve hours is a sufficient amount of time.

Can this be changed for certain posts? Like that b-day thread. Because it will be a pain in the ass for you guys to be getting messages from me frequently pestering you to update it, and it's not really cool if it has to die out because we don't get to keep a running list in one post of birthdays.

All in all, I think this is a crappy policy, and I'm not usually one to criticize policies of forums.

I understand what you're saying. Though, I dont' think it's possible to disable it for specific posts at this time...though I will look into possible ways of doing this in the future. And no worries about "pestering" us. We won't mind editing the thread for you. That's part of our jobs. And if the mods get annoyed with you doing it, don't worry...I won't, so you can contact me to do it.

Yeah, but you're kind of elusive.

As samureye once said, I'm like a magic genie. Call my name, and I magically appear.

For real though, no worries. I'm here more than you think. Even if I don't always post a ton. So I'll get your messages.
