Default Episode 217 - Special -- Cesar's Tokyo Travel Log, The Lost and the Damned, Street Fighter IV [Discussion]

Since Cesar was the only one at TGS this year, we asked him to do some light documenting of Japan for us so that we could live his experiences vicariously.

Calm down artic, they still took the time to release a show, it's to early to be complaining.

Rewatching the Lost & Damned makes me super stoked for Ballad of Gay Tony. Can't wait to hear you all talk Uncharted2 that game is simply amazing. I was on the edge of my seat just during that opening level.

You cant even go 17 episodes without taking a break?

Diggnation, TRS, etc.. have been going for 3 years + now and theyve only taken time off a few times.

its not like your show is particularly long, you dont review a lot of games, what is it that you DO do?
Losing your job, starting a new company from scratch, traveling more frequently than the other podcasts for game conferences and interviews, etc. I think going from nothing to where they are now in a very short time is deserved of a break.

This was the format of their prior show (The 1UP Show). There were a few seasons per year, then couple of weeks of "This is not The 1UP Show" (Or now Co-Op Specials).

By the way, I would love to see a recreation of Broken Pixels for these specials.

Its not like the show is long, they pick 2 or 3 games and they stand around on a street corner talking about said games, im rapidly losing interest in Co-op i prefer shows that actually review the game than sit around offering anecdotes and opinions about the games, i dont want to see your faces i want to see the game footage.

This isnt the 1UP show though, its Co-op. No other show on revision 3 does a few weeks of real episodes then they have a break for a week or two because they are tired after doing sooooooo much work.
To be fair, Co-Op and TRS are shows licensed to be put on Rev3, they are not owned by Rev3 and therefore don't technically have to follow anything other Rev3 shows do, unless it's obviously in their contract.

oh and I feel the opposite about Co-Op. I love it, and I'd much rather hear someone's opinion on the game rather than a game review. I find their opinions to be much more valuable to me on whether to check a game out or not.

Wow, you seem to be way too worked up about it.

This isn't the only place to get game reviews. You want game footage? Go to gametrailers.com. Their reviews are top notch with nothing but game footage. Co-op has their own format, it's a take it or leave it situation. It's not like we're getting repeat material. Plus, isn't the whole point of a review to give opinions about games?

And last I checked, Diggnation has been filming two episodes back to back and it seems to work for them.

Antidotes and opinions are eccentrically the heart of a review. I like Co-Op because it's not like other review shows I've seen (A two to three minute review all footage of the game in question, with a score placed at the end).

Other review shows:
X-Play - Written reviews are good, with a nice video summery.

Zero Punctuation
- No gameplay footage, but smart review.

Co-Op and the 1UP show are eccentrically the same show. Same group creating the episodes, with the same format, same style of reviewing games. It's just on Revision3 now, with a new opening sequence, no true closing sequence, Better cameras, a bigger pool of potential reviewers, and new setting (Mostly outside instead of the 1UP offices). Co-Op is a re-skinning of the defunct 1UP show.

Also, Co-Op is just one part of the same Area5 team (The company producing Co-Op), who hit some funding problems earlier (Ad market was kind of dry). They have been doing this as well. So, basically they shoot Co-Op, edit Co-Op, and do contract work to keep Co-Op on the air, that is a bit.
