Unfortunately I was in quite a big car crash last week and I lost it before I could get it to her. Anyway, the main reason that I'm not really into anime is that I find it incredibly immature, and this thread just illustrates that immaturity.
Animation/Anime is simply just a medium to tell a story, just like comics, books and live action are just a medium to tell a story. Just like any medium, there are genres within that medium like drama, action, comedy, etc. I find that it's just as immature to have presubjective view of a medium.

Every interest and hobby have fans. Just like how sports have fans and they are just as annoying because of their passion.

I personally find Laura funny because of her bias opinions. But when she's serious, she does make some points. There are 4 reviewers so if one is annoying you, just listen to the other 3.

Sorry to hear about your car accident, I hope no one got injured and that the insurance will cover for the damages.

I'm not really into anime, but I've gotten into some of the more mainstream stuff like Grave of the Fireflies, the Miyazaki films, etc.

This show isn't bad, I've watched all the episodes thus far.

All the reviewers have sort of a super power if you will, in that they all bring something distinct to the table. Laura has an in-your-face opinion, Roy is the knowledge base, Nick provides the artistic perspective, etc.

They all have very strong stances on the respective shows and I can, at times, get pulled out of the conversation when it turns into an attitude-fest.

I guess, to sum up, I do like what the show is doing but there can be some strong personality clashes that get in the way at points. Also, I do agree with the original poster's point that the strongest claims don't get explored further.

Overall I've not lost interest, but there is still work to be done. As one who's followed Rev3 since inception, I know that it takes a podcast a little while to find its comfort zone.

Wow I haven't read this entire thread but that first post was a little bit harsh. I say a little bit because I agree to an extent. I've only watched a couple episodes of the show so far but I noticed a few things.

In my personal opinion there are good anime series like Cowboy Bebop and Evangelion that have extremely well done animation, story, voice acting etc. and there are bad series like DBZ, which I don't even like saying it's name it's so bad. For some reason the "bad" anime seem to be as popular if not more so than the good and it seems this show talks about the latter a lot more than the former.

Another couple of things that I noted were the mention of Inu Yasha, which is a decent show but the artist, Rumiko Takahashi, has done much better work. However the real complaint about that is that whoever was talking about it here was using the bad mispronunciations that are heard on the poor English dub shown on TV here in the US. The other thing that irked me was that I heard at least one person use the plural "animes" which drives me crazy. I know it's nit-picky but I feel like a real fan would not put an 'S' into "anime".

However, all of that said, when Rev3 put out their survey I specifically suggested that they start an anime show so I'm glad to have something, rather than nothing and their suggestions are not entirely bad.

The general idea is that we strive to get better with each show we do, we are still getting used to our own format, and as we get more comfy with it, its easier to take chances and get creative with what we want to show others.

That being said, I haven't seen daeyeth post here in a while, I would like to know what is impressions are of the newer episodes out now. His was prolly the most scathing, if not the most critical, and not just on the show, but an entire fandom. It would be nice to hear what he has to say after so many episodes.

Regardless, this thread has brought us all closer together... in a way we should thank him for bridging yet another gap amongst the Anime Culture.

Maybe... just maybe.... it was his plan all along....

Wow.
