I also prefer manga, i can't bring up all my recomendations because it would take all day. However i'll recomend a manga i just started reading that i enjoy

Nurarihyon No Mago

The manga is about this boy called Rikou Nura who's a quarter youkai (demon). His grandfather is the leader of all youkai and wants him to take his place (eventually). The thing is that the kid just wants to be liked and be a "good" human. That obviously clashes with the youkai bit.

Anyways i like it, nothing earth shattering but it's worth a read.

I haven't read many manga, I just don't have much access to it and it can get really expensive really quickly. I've read Flame of Recca, since the series died abruptly and I wanted to continue with the story. I've also used to read the Naruto manga early on before it became an anime. The anime basically poisoned the series for me and I gave up on it.

Currently I'm in the middle of Blade of the Immortal, and I'm really not sure that anything else could possibly live up to this manga for me personally. I LOVE the art style used in the book. Has a very mature look and feel, and has great characters, story, and takes a more mature side to the subject matter I feel. The story is about an immortal rounin who decides to help a girl get revenge for the murder of her parents. It sounds very stereotypical, and it does start out that way, but it develops very strongly and I don't know how much more detail I can get into without spoiling it. Needless to say I feel Blade of the Immortal is a masterpiece. The book is very graphic in a visually realistic way, so be warned.

Actually a friend of mine bought all the books off Amazon and every year when my friends and I got for a week up north to the cottage, I read 2 or three of the books. It's taken me a number of years in this way, but it's made those lakeside vacations that much more special.

Read Detroit Metal City. I actually prefer the manga version than the anime version. I dunno why, it comes off funnier. There's so many crazy bands in the manga. XD

The only manga im reading (aside from claymore) is this.

Wolfen Crest.

Quote:
Ms. Aoshika is not only divorced, but an underappreciated teacher at her job. But one drunken mishap leads her to witness firsthand the brutal assault and murder of a young man. However, after fainting, she awakens to discover that all of the assailants have been seriously wounded.
And to her further surprise, the next day she discovers that not only is the young man Akira she met the night before alive, but he is now her new transfer student.
I REALLY love the art in this manga, lots of gore.
Story is really "meh" to me but it is kind of engaging once you get to the middle part.

Well I for one am one of those people who actually support those who put a lot of work into their product. Also, reading manga online isnt all that great. It can get into manga so much better if i can just have it on me and hold it in bed or where ever I am. Some of the stuff by Tezuka are somewhere around 400-500 pages a book! So I'm not going to read all that on a computer screen. Tezuka's Phoenix is 12 books long and each one usually around 300-500 pages if not more.

If they had a huge selection of great manga on the kindle then I would but one in a min. I also read many older titles that just dont have a huge fanbase and dont get scanlated. As with a lot of my anime selection I like a ton of older anime but at least there is a fan base for that. I have no problem paying for something if it's something I really enjoy alot and will read/watch again.

I have watched fansubs/scanlations before and probably will continue too. If it weren't for them I would have not gotten into many of the great books/series I love today but, I will most likely buy it if I really enjoyed the work because I want to support the industry and I also want it in my collection.
