Default Samsung BR with Netflix or Roku Box.

I planning on getting myself one or a Roku box for netflix what do you all recommend? And I have a 720p TV. will the Samsung do just as good as a job as a Roku? BR would be nice to have also and the prices are close to each other I think.

The Roku boxes are wireless and it also does Amazon as well as several other channels such as Revision 3. As far as quality goes I think that only the Roku uses the HD streams from Netflix.

Some of the Samsungs (Like the BD-P2550) have a Reon processor that does a better job of digital artifacts than most. However, the BD-P2550 sucks as a bluray player.

I have the Samsung BD-P3600 and while I appreciate that it streams Netflix, along with Pandora, YouTube and Blockbuster VOD, I exclusively use one of my three Roku DVPs for all streaming. The picture quality between the blu-ray player and my Roku DVPs are on par with each other; however, the Roku DVPs give so much more in way of content. In addition to Netflix, there are currently 16 other channels (Revision3, TWiT, Pandora, MHz Networks, Amazon, etc.) in the store right now and the promise of 100+ by the end of the year. While you may be only thinking of Netflix right now, trust me, a lot of the other channels have excellent content also.

I recently had to make the same decision and decided to go with the RokuHD. I use the wired connection so the extended rage wireless of the next step up model wasn't a feature I needed.

For $99, I am stoked with the thing. Right now I am in the middle of using it to catch up on missed episodes of all my favorite R3 shows like HDNation of course in addition to Netflix, Pandora and the TWit webcasts.

Frankly I don't have a wealth of confidence in the sustainability of the Blu-Ray format and currently am happy streaming 720p from Netflix and upscaling the few actual physical DVD's I watch.

I ain't rich but if I was, I might have gone with the latest, greatest Blu-Ray w/ built in streaming but, due to my financial state, I went with the RokuHD and have not regretted it.
