Thoughts: Anime vs Superhero Battle Royale

The 'Goku vs Superman' thread got me thinking about possibly starting a tournament between our favorite anime and superhero characters. Kind of like Yu Yu Hakusho except mixed. We could throw video game characters in there, but I think that'd be best saved for a different tournament. Especially since Superheroes at least have a lot of powers too. I don't think Mario could have any hope of fighting the likes of any anime character, but who knows. Thoughts?

Just to be clear, this wouldn't be a who do you like better (ie: popularity) but a who would win in a fight tournament.

I'm still compiling my ideas but I wanted to test the waters of interest to see if it's even worth moving forward as it looks like it's going to be a lot of work.

I'd first ask for submissions of characters to include, I was thinking 8 for each side. Maybe for the first one we could drop it down to 4. What do you think? I think the easiest way to filter through them would be to simply make a poll for each side and put it up for votes. Then places 1 - 8 (or 1 - 4) would be the final ones. Sound good?

Once we had our list of Anime Characters (can we come up with a better word?) and Superheroes I would have a bracket created with random "matches" and put that up to see if everyone agrees on it...meaning no 'unfair' match ups or biased matches. I realize that you can't please everyone, so I might not even do this. Like I said these are my preliminary thoughts.

Once everything was setup, I'd simply make a new post with a poll and leave it for X number of days. I was thinking a week, but that could take a long time (8 matches = 8 weeks + 4 weeks + 2 weeks = 14 weeks) so maybe just a day - Again what do you think?

A couple other thoughts to discuss: 1) Should we just use the forum polls or should we use a 3rd party poll website? 2) Perhaps we could get someone from the crew to throw it up on http://goanimetv.com/ or http://revision3.com/animetv I don't know where it would get the most views and participants. 3) I don't know how many 'shows' have already been pre-recorded, but perhaps we could get it mentioned on the show by Vee or Jon/JYB or during Hima time to let non-forums viewers aware of it.

other thoughts: Most of you should know that I'm in China, so my time is really screwed up compared to the USA/Europe. I also have some travelling to do around the 22nd of this month. Also my contract ends in July so I could possibly be going back to the USA in that time. During those times if they interfere with the timeline I'd have to get someone else to take over for that time.

Anyways, those are my thoughts, if there's enough interest then I'll proceed forward. If not, then I'll forget about it. Or if someone else who may have more time than I could take the reins.

Hey its not that there isn't alot of interest. Its just that GameFaqs does do something similar, and its also the fact that alot of our viewers are not apart of the Rev3 Community, and those in the Rev3 community I suspect aren't alot... so don't take it as much that no one is interested in the idea... more like the entire forum itself.
