Default Wow... Just Wow...

I am a big fan of the show. I have seen every single episode of Hak.5, since season one. I really look forward to watching the new episodes as soon as they come out. But as of late I have been really disappointed in you guys. I mean, I really like the fact that you guys are doing a once a week episode, but since this format change the quality of the show has really gone down hill. Not production quality, its gotten alot better. But the topics of the show seem to be really lacking. For instance, after watching this episode I could hardly tell you what it was about. It just wasn't memorable I guess. I liked some of the newer episodes. For instance the one on asleap (even it was and epic fail, lol), and some of the virtualization stuff. But for the most part we have gotten away from the Hacking stuff, and went to more N00b centric show layout.

Think about it..... openwrt has an x86 version. that means you could set up an intercepter or the pineapple using a virtual machine running in the background so that no router hardware is required. All you have to do is plug a usb wireless nic in the machine. Would that not be the ultimate hack? I would prefer to lose a cheap nic over losing a fon router if there was a choice.

That would probably work for the Interceptor, since it just uses standard OpenWRT packages, however the Pineapple uses custom Atheros drivers, and will only work on the Fon/Fon+ or similar.

At least I was half right..... Oh well, it is the thought that counts. I wonder if the code could be recompiled to work with the right nics.

Default Topology Diagram

I agree with many of the other fans of the show, and simply love it. The team does a fantastic job running through the segments. However, sometimes, I am lost in their IP addressing, especially when they are doing virtual segments.

Is there any way before a Networking Segment that Hak5 can quickly pop on screen a topology map with a simply layout of the client, server, and other nodes of interest? A Visio, Smart Draw, or even whiteboard sketch would be great.

I think the posters about to flame me would even benefit.

it should be easy for them. Thy wanted everyone to show their network via a diagram. The jnetmap.jar workd great for linux. It seems sluggish under windows though.
