![]() Now and Then, Here and There - Wiki While on top of a smoke stack in an industrial park, the main protagonist Shūzo "Shu" Matsutani is transported to another world after attempting to defend an unknown girl, Lala-Ru. Lala-Ru possesses a pendant containing (somehow) a vast reservoir of water and she has the ability to control that water. In this new world, Shu is beaten and interrogated. He is forced to join an army of children and pillage in search of water. He wishes to return home and also find the mysterious girl whom he tried to protect. Much of the series deals with serious moral issues relating to war, the consequences of war, rape, democide, human brutality and the exploitation of children. __________________________________ First off, this is not a happy anime. There will be no laughing and the only smiles you may have will be wiped away moments later. I find this is the sort of thing you might watch out of the same morbid curiosity that overcomes you when you slow down your car to try and catch a glimpse of a car wreck you are passing by. That said, I don't want to give the impression that this is bad, far from it. NTHT is well written, well animated and will keep you waiting for more. Waiting? you might ask? Yes, it enjoys a certain dramatic pause in some of its key moments but they take nothing away and only serve to highten what comes after. Now, it might leave some major details to the side when it comes to the setting or certain story movers but the overall anime itself can survive without them and suffer little. At thirteen episodes long you wont find yourself putting away a significant portion of your time to watch it, while still getting more emotional content from certain other longer running shows. All in all I think most viewers will get their moneys worth out of the time spent letting the truths and horrors of NTHT sink in. Raktus gives Now and Then, Here and There: |

This looks like my kind of anime, especially since I like other animes like Saikano. The screenie you posted caught my attention too.
Thanks for writing this, I'll put it on my radar. |

The more I look at that picture the more I'm reminded of 'Ico' the Platstation 2 game where a guy guides a girl around with a stick
Different art style of course. |
