Default Cyberpunk Anime

Hey guys, what is your favorite cyberpunk anime? I just recently watched Armitage III Polymatrix. It was more violent than I remember, but still I liked the story. I am also in the middle of watching Bubblegum Crisis 2040, and I'm thinking about getting the original Bubblegum Crisis. For some reason, I just really like cyberpunk. I don't know why; maybe I just like dystopian societies in the not-so-distant future. I was just wondering what recommendations the Anime TV fanbase has.

I love armitage so much. Toss in ghost in the shell and Akira along with what you already mentioned, and you have what anime used to be known for. We need more cyberpunk anime to be made. I would like to see anime to have that bad assery it used to have.

Which do you prefer, The Akira original vhs dub or the newer dvd dub? I used to think that it was the original that i liked until i got a copy which had both versions on it. Turns out the version i originally heard, and always heard whenever i watched Akira was the dvd version of the dub. I listened to a few minutes of the original and though it was funny. The next time i watch Akira i'm gonna have to listen to the vhs dub.

Ghost in the Shell is a good one to get, and I have the blu-ray version of Akira. I'm hoping that when ATV returns, a certain host will recommend some more awesome "Underexposed" cyberpunk anime that some of us may have missed. (hint hint)

That's a really hard question to answer.

There are such good cyber punk anime out there.

Ghost in the Shell, Akira, Bubblegum Crisis, Battle Angel Alita, Heat Guy J, Silent Mobius, just so many great anime.

However my two favorites are Serial Experiments Lain and Texhnolyze.

I used to think the vhs AKira was my favorite, but it's just out of this world amazing on blu-ray.

I have not seen Battle Angel Alita, Serial Experiments Lain, Texhnolyze, or Silent Mobius. I will look into these; thanks for the information!

Thumbs up Cyberpunk anime

I liked Jin Roh: The Wolf Brigade.

I like the steampunk stuff too, like The Last Exile. I wish there was more of that too.

I watched my blu-ray version of Akira last Thursday, and I must admit, it was better than I remembered it. My favorite part of the movie is viewing the city in its HD, blu-ray majesty. (I'm talking about the beginning of the movie while the protagonists are riding on certain vehicles; I think that part of the movie is really awesome to take in.)

I would say more, but hey, I don't want to ruin it for anyone. Even though this movie is more than 20 years old, its still awesome.
