Default Highschool of the Dead

Highschool of the Dead - Wiki

The series follows a group of Japanese high school students caught in the middle of a zombie apocalypse. The world is over taken with a very deadly disease that turns humans into zombies. In Japan, several students of Fujimi High School, and the school nurse, band together to survive the present apocalypse. The story follows Takashi Komuro, one of the students who survived in the initial outbreak.

On February 2, 2010, an anime adaption for Highschool of the Dead was announced, and it will be animated by Madhouse. The official release is planned for July 5th, 2010. At Anime Expo 2010, Geneon Universal Entertainment hinted that the show was licensed by an unknown company. It was later revealed that Sentai Filmworks is the licensor and will simulcast the anime through the Anime Network on July 5th, the same day it will premiere in Japan, Sentai will later release the series with a dub. The opening track will be played by "Kishida Kyoudan & The Akeboshi Rockets" entitled "HIGHSCHOOL OF THE DEAD", and the ending will be played by "Kurosaki Maon" entitled "Kimi to Taiyou ga Shinda Hi". At the end of the first anime episode, a track that sounds very similar to "In a Heartbeat" from the film "28 Days Later" by John Murphy is used.

If theres one thing I want you to know about me from my posts, aside from the love of military strategy literature, it is my love of Zombies and Anime. Well, I just recently came across a new series that combines both of my loves into one very jiggly gel.

Did I mention jiggly? Becuase if I didn't, this anime has jiggly up the wazzo. From bouncing breasts to upskirt shots to wet t-shirts, this anime encompases both aspects of the sex sells industries of hentai (without the nudity so far) and B-rated Zombie flicks. I say this as a warning to those that don't appreciate either, but not as a disclaimer to keep you from sampling.

Aside from the bouncing of things and the exposure of panties, this anime has a graphic design on par with today's best long running animes (Think Naruto or Bleach style). In fact the characters and opening remind me a lot of Bleach, only in their actions as no one has any special abilities you couldn't apparently learn from a Japanese High School.

Generally, it features everything you'd find in a Romeroesque zombie film with some things you might find described in a Brooks book. The first episode was released on the 5Th of this month so I can only review it based on the merit of its first episode, but so far I highly recommend giving this anime a try.

The first episode was excellent if your into zombies, survival horror, bouncing/upskirt fanservice and dark sense of humor. My favorite part was the two best friends trying to escape from the high school. That made me laugh. If this series is ever available in the States, I'll definitely buy it!

Solid first episode, although maybe it's just me, but the ecchi aspect of the show is both untame... and tame at the same time, if you catch my drift. It's just distracting from the overall enjoyment of the zombie killing (not that the ecchi overshadows the violence completely...).

Also, I hope that girl (Rei?) gets the ol' zombie treatment. I don't like her.

I'm enjoying the series so far, and am excited that Yen Press is bringing over the manga.

I can't believe the 4th episode was already a clip episode. Give me a break.

Just watched episodes 1 through 5. Enjoyed each one. Looks like episode 6 is going to be a "hotsprings/peeping tom" episode. Hopefully zombies will still be a factor between all of the inevitable cleavage shots.
