Unless you already live under the protection of a military like the US has, "Stop killing people!" is terrible advice. There are evil people in the World, and if they could they would find and kill Penn Jillette. He says thing to piss evil people off, on a daily basis. They don't, because they know there are men willing to kill right back, to protect him.

There is plenty of literature on why pacifism is a horrible ideology, so I'm not going to go into it too much, other than this Ayn Rand quote, which I think sums it up well: "The spread of evil is the symptom of a vacuum. Whenever evil wins, it is only by default: by the moral failure of those who evade the fact that there can be no compromise on basic principles."

I think 9/11 was the result of the US government's growing tolerance for evil perpetrated against us in the '90s, and our response should be far more decisive than what it has been. "The job", in South West Asia, is to crush the Taliban and Islamists, in response to their attacks and threats against the US and its interests in the past couple of decades. We should crush them the way we crushed Imperial Japan or Nazi Germany in the past: by overwhelming military force.

You have GOT to be kidding me! Go on wikipedia and look up the CIA term known as "blowback". Osama Bin Laden stated many reasons for his attack on American soil, and one of the reasons was our constant meddling in overseas affairs with military force! You think we were stand offish in the '90s? Are you JOKING? We have troops all over the world, we have troops in Germany, Korea, Saudi Arabia - EVERYWHERE! We've STARTED so many conflicts and wars and have carried out so many bombings and secret (now declassified) ops that it's hard to believe anyone actually believes that we've been stand offish! You really think the solution is to be even MORE hawkish in our foreign policy? You are a fool.

Bin Laden didn't attack us because we were being too neutral and stand offish (makes no sense!) he attacked us (his own words) because we've been bombing the middle east since the 90s and have troops all over the planet! Sheesh!
