"The girl try's the scam on Brian to see if it works"
try's? Seriously? That's not even a greengrocers' apostrophe anymore, it's just not being able to handle verbs. Yes, I am a gigantic, nitpicking pedant and I signed up solely to point out this mistake. (It should also be "girl's" or possibly "girls'" in the title and oh god look at what you made me do now) Last edited by sethur : 07-22-2010 at 06:38 PM. |

^ Calm down.
Anyways, this was a clever trick. Anytime I see a trick dealing with numbers, I think it's going to be one of those obvious math tricks. This one is so subtle and easy to do. |

This show is way too obnoxious to watch.

If you narrowly define mathemagic as the "take a number, double it, add 10...etc." type of routines, this might make sense. However, Nim is mostly math! As a matter of fact, the more you understand about the math, the less you'll have to memorize about the patterns! I suggest you pick up books by John Conway and/or Martin Gardner before you define what believe mathemagic is and isn't. |

Try as I might, over and over again, I couldn't get this trick to work! Curse these confounded modern pens! Even when it worked, it required so big of a glob of chapstick so as to be obvious to an onlooker that the pen is rigged. Despite this giant glob, it still only made a teeny tiny difference to the first half of the first stroke of the pen. Almost impossible to see in a darkened bar room. Also, even when watching the show, my first thought is: "Well, if the pen does write true right away, what's to stop the mark from scribbling on the coaster or paper and then all the numbers look perfect?" (Of course, there'd be a scribble then, but still),

This sounds like a cool trick, but I'm having trouble getting it to work as well. How much chapstick do you use? Do you just touch it on there or rub it on?
Does it work better on coasters than it does on post it notes? |

![]() don't half ass it if you're going to nitpick sethur. anywho, with how anal people are these days, i wonder how common it'd be for the person to try & retrace over the part of the digit that can't seem to show ink Last edited by xfuuey : 07-27-2010 at 05:43 PM. |
