Default Antivirus for my netbook

I'm trying to go with either Norton's or Mcafee so dont hate me for the fact I love them, even though on my PC builds for low income familys I'll use free based software

But here my question which would you go with I thinking Nortons 360, that way I can do away with my HP Cloud I can get some harddrive storage back to my harddrive

Though again I like the fact mcafee a little better due to it easy to use but the problem is which is better on resource I dont want one that going to bog down my netbook on memory usage so need some help on deciding

You are thinking of Windows Defender.

I second tehboris's recommendation of Microsoft Security Essentials. Not only is it low in resources usage, but it also is a anti-virus and anti-malware program in one program (taking up less processes), especially since you want to use protection for a netbook, the less resources and processes used, the better. MSE ranked very good in AV-comparatives testing, so that shouldn't be a concern for you. As a matter of fact, I use it on all my Windows PC's. Just remember, there is no one Anti-virus/Anti-malware software that is going to catch everything. That's why I also use Malwarebytes and SuperAntispyware as backup on-demand scanners in addition to MSE.

Your behavior is a big variable in terms of protecting your PC, probably more than which AV you choose. Don't click on attachments and links in unfamiliar emails, keep your computer up to date, turn on the firewall, keep automatic updates turned on, use WPA2 encryption on your wireless network, stay away from file sharing sites, etc..

I used to use AVG Free Edition and before that Avast and at one time used Norton, but it slows the PC way down, so now I use good old free MS Security Essentials.
