Movie: Monsters

Well I've been seeing the hype for this movie start spilling out all over the internet, so I figured I'd make a thread for Monsters, as I'm interested in knowing what you're thinking this movie is going to be like.

I'll let you in on a bit of a secret, I've already seen it at the Toronto International Film Festival. I'm seriously worried that the movie is never going to live up to the hype that's being generated for it. People are going on about it being like District 9 or some other movies. The only similarity I'd say it really has is that there's next to no budget for this movie.

Now the thing that bugs me, is how people will start forgiving the movie of it's many flaws simply because of the budget. Maybe that's just me. But I don't think you should let things off the hook simply for that.

Honestly i sent a tweet out the other day and you replied pretty fast to it....Otherwise i still havnt really seen anything on it.

But i do want to see it. I try not to let previews get to me but i have a feeling this is one of them "everything good has already been shown" kinda deals.

Which makes me sad and such but still...Im very much looking forward to this but just like "CatFish" i highly doubt it will play near me(hell let me in nor the social network are playing in my town)

Anyways I do hope its a mix of District 9 and the mist like i said on twitter but you said its not much of either so now i dunno what to think....besides i want to see it

Really surprised no one else has replied to this thread, Guess the movie isnt as talked about as i may have thougt....

Anyways I finally saw it. I do want to see what everything thinks. It could go either way IMO.

But the preview does send a vibe for a whole nother film IMO.

Maybe a trailer would help... although after having already seen the movie... I'm surprised they made the trailer like this.

count me in. regardless if it sucks or not, i love this idea/theory of "panspermia". The idea of extraterrestrial life making its way to earth either by meteors or manmade objects is a fascination.

im just eager to see what new et lifeforms this movie will present.

The movie is good IMO. But seriously its not about what the preview really shows. I dont want to ruin it but at the same time the preview shows a whole nother situation IMO.

To be honest I found myself to be bored most of the time.

The thing that has got me excited about this film is that it seems like a fairly unexplored trope (though I am not quite sure what said trope is). When I first saw the trailer months ago, it seemed like a fairly original concept. Can one of you who has seen it comment on that (without spoiling anything preferably). Is it as fresh as they say or is it just another iteration of the same old invasion trope?
