Also the eggs will taste better if you place the eggs, chorizo (spicy sausage), bits of bacon, cheese, hash browns, and onion/peppers into a large fried tortilla with a special sauce.
Breakfast burrito. I am from California, and these are a staple in CA. I moved to Ohio a few years back and learned that no one here likes breakfast burritos. I finally saw one on a local diner's menu, so I ordered one. The eggs were folded, not scrambled, and all they put in it were large chunks of bland sausage. And the tortilla wasn't fried. I was horrified. Almost choked on the massive chunks of sausage. I had to pull it apart and eat the sausage with a fork. |

Worth noting that chorizo is different in different countries. America tends to use Mexico's version, while we use Spain's here.
As a usually sliced, cured meat, it would be more like a thin orange/red salami and you would never expect to see it as anything resembling sausage. I just made this thread to point out a couple of typos on the show notes though. Mostly just that if you try to cook scrambled eggs for 90 minutes you're going to end up with a load of burnt crap (and probably destroy your pan) |

I like scrambled eggs with bacon cooked until just crispy, and buttered toast.
But ... I miss picking up a good breakfast burrito on the way to work in LA.

I like to make fresh tortillas. Super easy to make..;Once they are done, I scramble some eggs and whatever I want to go with them to put into the tortilla formed into a burrito. You can put them in foil and take them to work or wherever. You can always make them the night before and reheat then in the microwave (without the foil of course).
Scrambled eggs, some type of meat, and biscuits with gravy is a staple where I live. If in a hurry, I will take some biscuits, slice them in half, add a microwaved egg, condiments, and piece of cheese. Sort of homemade mcmuffin. Last edited by computoman : 09-30-2010 at 12:46 AM. |

That's another item that I can't find around here. Well I sometimes can find it, but it usually sucks. I'm from the Southwest/West, where biscuits and gravy is a staple. But here in the NE/Midwest, they don't know how to make it. I imagine it's also good in the South.

mmmm, you're making me hungry.
Burger King used to make somewhat passable biscuits and gravy. But they got rid of it on their menu, at least here in Ohio. In Texas, BK had it back in the 80's/90's. When I first moved here to Ohio in 2001, we went to a local diner and I had their biscuits and gravy, and it was awful. No sausage at all in the gravy, and it was thin and tasted like vinegar and the biscuits were hard. The surly waitress said "no one ever orders this stuff." And the restaurant smelled like an ashtray (this was before Ohio finally outlawed smoking public places, being from CA I was used to smoke-free restaurants). I thought: "gee Ohio really, really blows." There is a local English pub that has bangers and mash. It's good stuff. |
