Gonna have to disagree with Alex and say I definitely do not want a "dark and gritty" Superman movie. All I want in a new Superman movie is him cutting loose and beating the crap out of the bad guys. The best Superman heavy episodes of the Justice League cartoons were when he didn't hold back when taking on a villain and thats the type of Superman movie I want to see.

Wonder if Jeff's seen Dr Horrible's Sing-Along Blog because that sounds quite a lot like what he's describing - the sympathetic nerdy "villain" and the douchebag jock "hero". Though it's obviously comedic as well.

So he did, very nice. I started watching at episode 103 and that was in 84. I've watched most of the old epsidoes, but I must have missed that bit.
