I guess Kevin and Alex didn't remember that they both heard about the trains that don't stop when they chose it as a story and talked about it on a previous Diggnation episode. xD

Not to put a downer on the episode but nicotine is highly toxic. When it is smoked most of the nicotine isn't ingested so it's not as bad. But drinking it, thats crazy.

kevin mentioned being fidgety afterwards and dizzyness...the next sympton can be siezures. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nicotine_poisoning

and on the cancer front the nicotine hasn't be specifically linked to carcinogens, but it has been linked to slowing down the body's natural ability to remove mutated and cancerous cells.

Talking about Kinect but didn't know that the things motion capture was supposedly hacked in about three hours. I saw a video that showed the data stream colour coded for depth running through a PC. If both things were put together then that is the whole bundle.
The Danger of Tobacco? Kevin had it at "chewing Tobacco gives you mouth cancer."
High speed train has the advantage of also being able run on same gauge legacy tracks at lower speeds so the main terminal in your city will still be the main terminal. The problem with that is that the train will have to run at super slow speed until it hits it's special tracks which will often mean that it will take more time to leave the city than it will to get to the next one. The best bet for HSR is to upgrade legacy tracks between cities which will give smoother rides for legacy trains while allowing HSR trains to reach good speeds during the upgraded sections, the best of both worlds maybe.

Cool Americans and spirits

I always crease up when I hear them going "whoa, it's 80 proof" as that's only 40%. All proper whisky is around 40%. Get them on some cask strength whisky and they'd be ruined: 60%; 120 proof.

I'd love to take them drinking in Scotland. Drinking like men xD

Does anyone know the application with the check mark icon:

I was thinking it might be steam, but the line lengths are opposite.
Maybe it's that great windows-capable todo app that I've been looking for?

Here in the tobacco belt of North Carolina we recognise what Kevin was feeling was a nicotine high. You want to watch how many of these concoctions you have. Could get the green fever or green tobacco sickness. <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Green_Tobacco_Sickness. Anyone ever having ever "primed" or "cropped" tobacco is aware of "the green fever" It comes from your sweat mixing with tobacco juice while picking tobacco leaves from the plant and puting them under your arm until you reach the end of the row. After gettin green fever once you learn why its a good idea to wear a shirt even if its hot.

Default Crab Machine

The Crab Machine video was shot in China, not Japan. I live in Nanjing, where the crab machines are in the subway station, it is INDEED insane! The Chinese are even more intrigued by it, as they stand around in crowds around the machine and watch to see who will actually BUY one of them, haha!
