Is anyone else confused about what measuring stick the guys are using for the films? It seems like sometimes it's "I personally liked this movie better," while other times it's "This is a better quality movie because...etc." Those are very different discussions when comparing movies, and (correct me if I missed this) it doesn't seem like the guys ever decided which they are doing. They may be doing both, but I don't think that works because then it becomes an apples-to-oranges argument.

this is one of the best uses of an "ad" ever... quick, pretty cool, link if you want more -- id like to see this format more often
also, i like the mantra of "if both of these movies were on, which would i watch?" for VS still not liking the dailies as much as the weeklies but im on board and watching every day - still a GREAT show! how about a "bonus friday" with 2 segments every friday? a little extra love..... |

I like how they're judging them. Flickchart is about your favorite movies, not critic's favorite movies. If they voted movies based on how well they did at the box office, or popularity, etc.. well then.. that's just every other site.
Also, I really didn't enjoy the hangover... too ridiculous. I agree with Jeff's the photos at the end made the movie. Ace Ventura however, is classic Jim Carrey. It's just fun to watch |

"Which would I watch" would make sense, but it seems like the guys also toss in other factors as well. Recently when they debated Death Proof it was a matter of what each film was attempting to do, and which one succeeded more at that. I know this stuff is really nit-picky so I'm mostly having fun with this. However, I do have these kinds of discussions with friends about how a movie being "great" and me liking a movie aren't that closely related. In other words, I don't think Teen Wolf is a great film, but I liked it; whereas I would gladly say Citizen Kane is one of the greats even though I don't particularly like it (nor would I choose it over most other movies if it happened to be "on")... Obviously I enjoy needlessly delving into the minute details of these kinds of debates!

It's more than ten years later, and I still think Ace Ventura is hilarious. The Hangover just came out a few years ago, and I'm already starting to get tired of it. I find that I generally agree with Jeff the most on these segments.
By the way, can someone please cut together a video of all the funny phrases/noises Mike puts at the very end of the show? Maybe add some beats and make it a remix. Last edited by quence : 11-12-2010 at 05:48 PM. |

I often find other people's opinion confusing. I try and get over it. It's really okay to disagree with people.

I think Ace Venture 2 is much better than the first, and they are both better than the Hangover. It was entertaining, but I didn't laugh outloud that much . . . and that Rhino scene from Ventura 2 is one of the funniest things I've ever seen . . .
Man is it fun watching you guys talk about your decisions, especially when Dan tries to slip in some "Let's make a deal" discussions when it comes to picking a flick . . . so fun. (About to put in Master & Commander because of the love they shared about it . . . I didn't care for it the first time around so I'm thinking I mighta watched it while in the wrong mood . . . I hope.) -

Definitely agree with that. I often laugh at how much we hate when others don't like what we like, or when they love something we don't. Why can't we like what we like and be okay with it if someone doesn't like it along with us?....
